When, where, why & what awareness exercise

The When, Where, Why & What Awareness Exercise is a simple exercise that will help you to identify the particular reasons and circumstances that lead to your child being given, or asking for, unhealthy foods and drinks.

It is for parents who are concerned that their child is consuming too many unhealthy foods or drinks.

By becoming more aware of triggers, you will be able to start making changes - covertly - that will limit the amount of unhealthy foods or drinks that your child consumes.

The When, Where, Why, & What Awareness Exercise may allow you to see:

  1. When unhealthy foods/drinks are being consumed - for example, around naptime, late in the day.
  2. Where unhealthy foods/drinks are being consumed - for example, at home, in the car or pushchair, at a grandparent's house.
  3. Why unhealthy foods/drinks are being consumed - for example, are they used as a distraction, reward, to cure upset, as a treat, because children see them in the cupboard?
  4. What unhealthy foods/drinks are being consumed - for example, fast-food, sweets, fizzy drinks.
